Guide to Setting Smart Goals:
Setting goals for yourselves is extremely crucial, when striving for success. Goals keep you motivated and driven towards achieving your desires. Always aim to set SMART goals (it will be explained, just keep reading!). This is my guide on how to set realistic and achievable goals.
You should always aim to setting SMART goals.
S- specific
M- measurable
A- attainable
R- realistic
T- time-bound
These are the qualities your goals should have.
- The goal must be specific and measurable- This means the goal should be completely clear in your mind. Example of a specific goal is: “I want to lose 5kg”. This is specific rather than saying “I want to lose weight”
- The Goal must be achievable and realistic- Don’t set yourself up for disappointment. The goal you set must be attainable. For example, your goal cant be to lose 5kg in one week, because that isn’t possible.
- Lastly, the goal must be time-bound- Always set a time limit to achieve your goal. Example of this is, “I want to lose 5k in 2 months”.
Now that you know what qualities a goal must have, now let’s see how to actually set your goal and how to achieve them!
What should your Goal be?
Always set goals based on your desires and future requirements. Your goals must be relevant to you, otherwise even accomplishing these goals won’t benefit you.
Most importantly, set a goal that you want to achieve. This can be something personal (like losing weight), or something professional (like increasing productivity). Whatever your goal is, make sure you are benefiting from it, and your knowledge/skills are increasing.
How to achieve your goals?
To achieve your goals, you need to be determined and committed. Otherwise you will never accomplish your goals.
Create a timetable and set aside time for working towards your goals – It is really important to set aside time to work on yours goals, if you don’t, your goals are nothing but dreams that you hope will come true one day (which will never come true!) confused on making a timetable? Hard work – Nothing in life come easy. To achieve anything, you need to put in the hours and be completely committed to achieving your target. You might’ve heard this before, “No pain, No gain”. Always remember nothing is impossible.
These are just some of the ingredients to achieving your goals.
